James Gunn pitched ‘CREATURE COMMANDOS’ before taking over DC
It follows a group of military superhumans consisting of a human leader, a werewolf, a vampire, Frankenstein’s monster, and a gorgon. Gunn later greenlit the project himself when he became CEO of DC Studios.
Featured in the cast of AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon: The Return of the (Hill) King (2023)
Series writer and creator James Gunn appears in the opening credits with a laptop while typing up the script. .
I’ve always loved the DC Universe and while I think the DCEU has been hated too much, I’ve been very disappointed with several DCEU projects. This series has fantastic characters and is extremely creative.
I think when James Gunn says that superhero movies and TV have become too generic, that’s the point
They’ve had so many superhero movies in the last decade that when people see a new one come out they don’t go to the theater because they think “another superhero movie, man, there’s been too many” because theirs is just a generic action superhero movie anyway (especially the sequels) I think James Gunn is really going to change things and I can’t wait. I also think that since Marvel has become so much more popular, DC has a lot of great characters that have been overlooked (by fans) and I think if things go well at DC in the next few years, the lesser known characters will be able to do well at the box office as long as they can grab people’s attention and really have a special feeling to them.

The first episode was better than the preview
It’s a quiet, lonely show, since (almost!) everyone except the main character has died from a pandemic, but it uses that silence to ask valuable existential questions about loneliness, whether you should strive to live if all your loved ones are dead, hope, and how to move forward. There’s a famous book with this title/theme, and we’ll see how much this series complements and parallels that novel.
The first episode is good enough to make you want to watch more
It has the same sense of desolation and despair as The Walking Dead, but without the zombies, and instead the personal struggle of living in a much-changed world. “One Hundred Years of Solitude” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres of this month.

He soon meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer who tracks him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. Check out our list of renewals and cancellations to see if your favorite show made the cut. “Day of the Jackal” is a 1963 novel about an assassination attempt on then-French President Charles de Gaulle.
The show moves the setting to the present day
Referenced by Graham Norton and I like: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). I’ve been looking forward to Day of the Jackal ever since I first heard about it. Then I saw the trailers and my excitement grew even more.
I was wrong because he absolutely killed it
Well, after watching it, I can say that it definitely lived up to my expectations. Everyone knows that Eddie Redmayne is an incredible actor, but I still had my doubts about him playing this role. He plays the anti-hero perfectly here and makes you root for him to succeed.
I definitely recommend this series
This series is best watched because I can promise you that once you finish one episode, you can’t wait to start the next one. When Redmayne’s character (The Jackal) is on a mission, you’re on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what happens next. The Jackal reminds me of a James Bond spy character turned evil.
